Not enough snow…what to do?

By Tim Hauserman

Well here are 12 cool things to do:

Take a hike on the east shore to the crystal clear coves at Chimney Beach.

Go for a road bike ride along the edge of the Sierra from Kingsbury Grade to Diamond Valley near Minden.

Take a stroll along the Lakeside Trail from the start of the Truckee River at Fanny Bridge to the State Park near the Safeway.

Go snowshoeing at one of the places that has plenty of snow: Tahoe Meadows.

Check out the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center, then walk over to the shore of Donner Lake.

Go wine tasting and pottery creating before catching the movie at The Cobblestone (at the Tahoe Art Haus) in Tahoe City.

Enjoy one of the snow free sections of bike trail along the Truckee River. Either Tahoe City to River Ranch or Downtown Truckee to Glenshire.

Walk along the lakeshore at Sugar Pine Point State Park with eyes open for osprey and eagles.

Take a drive around Lake Tahoe, stopping frequently to enjoy the views. Go clockwise so you are always close to the lake.

Check out the Tree Top adventure parks in Tahoe Vista and Granlibakken.

Take the family to the bowling alley in Incline Village

Light a fire, make some hot chocolate, cozy up on the couch, and read a great book…oh wait, did you just fall asleep?
