The November 2017 Events Calendar Here!

Well, here we are a few days after Halloween, I just now got the decorations down and just realized that November is already here. YIKES! That means that Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away! And as per usual, the area is starting to gear up for ski season. Job fairs abound, the Truckee Ski Swap is today, and you can bet the local restaurants will still be doing two for ones and discounted meals up until the holiday weekend. And after that, all hell breaks loose as we count down to Christmas. Where does all the time go?

And speaking of discounted meals, Slow Food Lake Tahoe is having two community soup events in November. I’ve yet to go to one, but my friends have, and they’re a lot of fun. Meet some new neighbors while enjoying some tummy warming good food.

Also in November, for those of us who were rained out of the Broadway in the Park this summer, you’ll be treated to the Truckee Community Theater’s rendition of ‘On Golden Pond’ instead on their Thursday night performance. Be sure not to miss it.

Other than that, November will be filled with ‘praying for snow’ parties somewhere, with all of us on the edge of our seats wondering what mother nature is going to dole out for us for this winter’s ski season. (Drought sucks, and I like snow as much as the next person, but I’ll confess, last year was a bit much. I’d prefer to see out of my kitchen window most of the winter instead of prepping meals in a dark cave…but hey, that could just be me…)

So get out there and enjoy those crisp November fall days while you can. Soon you’ll have to dig out those snow boots and find those shovels and ice scrapers. Winter – and the holidays –  will be here before you know it.
